Returns, Risk and Exit

Updated 2026-08-06 · Akontec Synergy Private Limited

How returns actually work

Returns come from the underlying business trading successfully. There is no other source. Akontec does not pay returns out of its own revenue, out of new investor money, or out of anything other than the specific business the investment funded.

Any projection shown in any document is a projection based on stated assumptions, and every assumption is listed. Projections are not forecasts, commitments or entitlements.

Risk factors — stated before any opportunity

  1. Capital loss. The full invested amount may be lost. This is the primary risk and it is real.
  2. No guaranteed returns. Returns may be lower than projected, delayed, irregular, or zero.
  3. Illiquidity. There is no ready market. Exit depends on the terms of the agreement and, often, on finding a buyer.
  4. Operational risk. Execution, staffing, attrition, quality failures and management error can all destroy unit economics.
  5. Client concentration risk. In BPO partnerships, loss of a single large campaign can remove most of a centre's volume.
  6. Market and competitive risk. Pricing pressure, demand shifts, technology substitution — including AI reducing demand for certain voice processes.
  7. Regulatory risk. Changes in labour, tax, telecom or data protection law can change the economics.
  8. Location and site risk for physical units — footfall, rent escalation, licence renewal.
  9. Key person risk in small operations.
  10. Force majeure.

Exit

Every agreement states its exit mechanism explicitly. Common forms:

MechanismNotes
Term expiryThe agreement runs its stated term and settles
Asset saleThe unit or its assets are sold; proceeds distributed per agreement
Transfer to a third partyUsually requires Akontec's written consent and a transfer process
Buy-backOnly where a buy-back clause exists in the executed agreement, at the stated formula

There is no automatic buy-back and no assumed liquidity. If an agreement has no buy-back clause, none exists — regardless of anything said in conversation.

Lock-in

Where a lock-in applies it is stated in the agreement with its start date, duration and consequences of early exit.

Language discipline

Never used: guaranteed · assured returns · risk-free · safe investment · fixed monthly income · double your money · principal protected · "our investors always". These are listed in 27_Guardrails/03_Restricted_Statements.md and their use is a disciplinary matter, not a style preference.
